We are David Smith and Luanne Mc Callum, two local South African friends, who live in a town called Knysna on the Garden Route in South Africa.
The Garden Route in South Africa is a very special place and we both love living here. We have been friends for many years, so with Luanne’s English skills and David’s hosting skills we decided to team up and offer guests something different.

About Us
Hi, I’m Luanne, and I am an English teacher by profession. I taught English in Asia in the 90’s and then I started and ran my own English school, Interlink English Centre, in Cape Town from 1998 to 2021. In 2021 I taught English in Spain for a year and then I came back to South Africa in 2022 and settled in Knysna. Now I teach English online and enjoy living in Knysna.
Hi, I’m David, and after a successful career in Financial Management in Johannesburg, I was lucky to retire early and come to live in Knysna in 2016. I have a passion for cooking, so I did a chef’s course and a cheese making course, and I started a small guest house, so I have been offering beautiful accommodation and meals to guests from around the world for a few years now.
Spend a week visiting the best places on the Garden Route in South Africa, exactly like a local would, do genuine local activities, like braais and picnics; and at the same time improve your English by having some lessons and a lot of conversation!
So, if you would like a completely local experience by speaking to local people and going to local places, eating local food, and drinking local drinks, then please contact us, we would love to host you and show you our beautiful part of the world.
